How Linen Minimal is put together

The frame
No chrome at all. The page is white to its edges and the structure comes from the type alone.
The title
A small label above the document title, the way a letterhead introduces itself.
The items
Horizontal rules only. Rows read across without vertical lines chopping them up.
The total
The figures are separated by a rule, with the balance due set heaviest.
The stock
Printed on a tinted stock rather than white, which reads as chosen paper rather than a default.
The typeface
Source Serif. Printed, traditional. Swap it for any of the other four without touching the layout.

What this design is for

A serif on linen stock with a small eyebrow above the title. Quiet and printed rather than designed, which is the point.
