What a good invoice template gets right

The amount is unmissable. Whoever opens it should find the balance due without reading anything else. Everything above it is supporting evidence.

Your mark prints at a real size. Most templates fit a logo into a box so small it reads as a stamp. Set the height you actually want.

The reference is easy to quote. It goes on the payment, in the email subject and into the client’s accounting system, so it needs to be short and readable aloud.

Tax is itemised. A client who can reclaim VAT needs each component shown separately, not folded into one number.
